NY Gov new tax plan! lol what a joke!
New York Governor David Paterson has unveiled a new budget, one that includes major layoffs, taxes, and school funding cuts. Patterson’s 121 billion dollar budget includes 4 billion dollars and 88 new fees and taxes He calls it the “greatest economic and fiscal challenge of our lifetime.” Regardless of what the Governor said, New Yorkers are mad, and rightly so. Why? Well, hmm… were to start? An “iPod tax” that charges state and local sales tax on “digitally delivered entertainment services”- in other words, any song/game downloads, higher taxes on wine, beer and flavored malt beverages. He would also impose an 18% tax on non-nutritional drinks like soda! No wonder their p****d at stupid Governor! What do you think: (A) We are UNDER-TAXED? (or) (B) Have the politicians OVER-SPENT? I have to EARN my money before I spend it. I SAVE for tough times and survive just fine. If the Governor needs lessons in money management, I'll be glad to share some basics with him!
But in the mean time I find that it is interesting to watch the liberals crash and burn under the weight of their liberal idealology while we Conservatives cling to our guns, Bibles, faith, homes, jobs, cash and comfort and watch NY’rs whine.....want some cheese and crackers to go with that wine?

Disgraced Gov. Rod Blagojevich
Article referenced from http://apnews.myway.com/article/20081212/D951FD4O0.html
Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich has been accused of trying to sell President elect Obama's empty senate seat. In the accusations, he is supposed to have tried/is trying to sell the position for upwards of one million dollars, a new job for his wife, a new house... etc. His case is now in the court system. Meanwhile Attorney General Lisa Madigan asked the Supreme Court to declare Blagojevich unfit to serve, likening his corruption scandal to a debilitating illness. The attorney general is applying a rule that was intended to cover cases in which a governor is incapacitated for health reasons. This is a major Constitutional battle,
However, while this is going on, billions of dollars of state bills are going unpaid. If this is not resolved soon, the whole state of Illinois will be bankrupt... and in need of a "Bailout Plan".
The legal side of this issue is to long and deep to even comprehend. Whatever the outcome, it needs to happen fast so the state can resume its normal life.
Baby formula containing Melamine
The following article is, in part, based on an article from http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122791874688265673.html?mod=googlenews_wsj
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently announced that it would allow trace amounts of the industrial chemical Melamine to be contained in Baby Formula. The FDA states that trace amounts will not endanger anyone. However, in China, Melamine has caused more than 36 infants deaths. How Can the FDA allow this? The toxic dose is on par with common table salt with an LD50(lethal does for 50% of test subjects)of more than 3 grams per kilogram of bodyweight.FDA scientists explained that when melamine and cyanuric acid are absorbed into the bloodstream, they concentrate and interact in the urine-filled renal microtubules, then crystallize and form large numbers of round, yellow crystals, which in turn block and damage the renal cells that line the tubes, causing the kidneys to malfunction.
Although it would take a lot of baby formula to create the lethal does of 3248 mg/kg of Melamine, it has a high likely hood of causing in-numeral health problems in baby's. Plain and simply, the FDA is no doing their job, congress needs to flex it's power and fix this situation.
Student's first admendment rights violated!
Original news article from http://blog.wired.com/27bstroke6/2008/12/us-student-inte.html?cid=142170614#comment-142170614
A former Florida high school student was punished for "cyberbullying" The student, Katherine Evans, is suing the school principles for violating her first amendment rights.
The lawsuit, filed Monday in a Florida federal court, concerns the student, now 19, who was suspended last year after creating a Facebook group about her English teacher. The group was called "Ms. Sarah Phelps is the worst teacher I've ever met!," and featured a photograph of the teacher, and an invitation for other students to "express your feelings of hatred." Later the student deleted this group, however, the school suspended her for three days and removed her from her advanced placement classes.
How can this be? By creating this group she did not make any liable or slanderous comments or postings. Why was she punished? The first amendment says: "Congress shall make no law respecting... or abridging the freedom of speech..."
The Congress is obviously not going to do anything about this, but regardless, that is besides the point. The first amendment allows for freedom of speech, thus exonerating this student.
